AN ARCHIPELAGO FULL OF LIFE
Welcome to Hearthwild.
Eight regions. A thousand quiet connections. From forest floor to cloud island, the places that shape our creatures are as alive as the creatures themselves.
ANCIENT FORESTS · 11 SPECIES
Heartwood
A living canopy of mossy bridges, hollow trunks, and old-growth sanctuaries. Follow the seed paths slowly; almost every quiet clearing is somebody’s home.
Grovewarden
The Sprighorn line tends the living crossings of Heartwood. Teal fur, copper tail leaves, and a seed-bearing wooden crest identify these patient guardians, whose bark armor develops alongside their willingness to shelter other creatures.
Vesperfox
Fernip and its evolutions haunt the meeting place of bright woodland and deep fern shade. Their twin brush tails become layered living screens, allowing a clever controller to guide attention as carefully as it chooses a route.
Antleroot
Mossprig and its evolutions browse the open groves between Heartwood and the high winds. Their slim legs, moss mantle, wooden antlers, and copper leaf tails develop into a graceful support line attentive to traveling groups.
Floravel
The Budbun line follows the flowering paths of Heartwood. Long petal-lined ears, a layered blossom tail, and lively hind legs develop alongside a generous support temperament; mature golden buds reveal the line's secondary Spark character.
Chromarch
The Tintlet line lives among Heartwood's layered leaves and suspended vine routes. Eye turrets, a flowing casque crest, shifting scale patches, and a complete spiral tail create a watchful controller adapted to changing light and dense cover.
Elderoot
Rootnip grows into a walking mandrake with a twisted living trunk, curling root mantle, broad leaf crown, and shadow bracts. The line's legendary bonds are associated with sustained care for old-growth sanctuary rather than a single spectacular victory.
Cervititan
The Nubstag line grows immense branching mandibles above a compact beetle body. Heartwood foresters associate it with the difficult work of moving fallen timber while protecting the small living communities hidden inside an apparently ordinary old log.
Verdictis
The legendary Scythip line is associated with a hidden Heartwood temple garden, where long folded forearms resemble blades among reeds. Its stories honor judgment and restraint, qualities a visitor must demonstrate before earning the resident guardian's trust.
Evergarden
The Dewsnip line carries a living garden above its rounded spiral shell. It follows damp woodland routes slowly enough for individual leaves and resting places to become familiar, joining otherwise separated moss patches through its seasonal travels.
Aurorush
Nectip hovers wherever Heartwood flowers grow beyond ordinary reach. This tiny Grove bird develops narrow swept wings, a needlelike beak, and brilliant throat plumage, eventually becoming a bold courier between distant blossoms and isolated canopy gardens.
Regalume
Plumip carries the first small promise of a magnificent train through Heartwood's overgrown courts. Its upright posture, blue neck, and eye-spotted feathers mature into Regalume, a rare Grove bird whose greatest display usually welcomes company rather than challenges it.
VOLCANIC HIGHLANDS · 6 SPECIES
Cinderreach
Warm basalt gullies wind between mountain forges and volcanic gardens. Here, renewal starts in the ash, and small creatures tend the heat that keeps their world alive.
Kilnwyrm
Cindlet and its evolutions inhabit warm basalt gullies where storms meet volcanic heat. Their orange bodies, curved flame fins, coal scutes, and luminous channels develop into the unmistakable silhouette of a furnace-backed drake.
Calderboar
Sootsnout develops into a broad volcanic boar with curling ivory tusks and a swept ember mane. Its warm snout and forceful digging reshape ash meadows, but careful adults distinguish resilient ground from vulnerable new growth.
Blazeroam
Coaljoey and its evolutions travel Cinderreach's warm grasslands on powerful hind legs. A long tripod tail, rounded ember pouch, upright ears, and flame-shaped hock growth develop into the distinctive silhouette of an agile, wind-aware striker.
Solariyx
The Fanglim line is an athletic gold sabercat of storm-warmed grasslands. Coal stripes, long curved ivory fangs, a lightning mane, and an ember-tufted tail grow around a poised striker that studies movement before committing to pursuit.
Solavyr
Ashpip belongs to a Legendary phoenix line associated with Cinderreach's returning dawn. Its warm round body becomes a magnificent array of sculpted flame feathers, yet even Solavyr remains closely tied to a particular nest, landscape, and earned trust.
Crucibull
Coalhop is a broad furnace toad with a generous croaking mouth, powerful folded haunches, and warm back vents. Around Cinderreach's volcanic workshops, it matures into Crucibull, a rare Ember brawler whose familiar resting places connect workyards with living mineral pools.
REEFS & TIDAL SHORES · 11 SPECIES
Glasswater Coast
Crystal tide pools open onto coral shelves and weathered wrecks. The sea redraws its paths twice a day, connecting sheltered nurseries to the deep blue.
Abyssentinel
The Puddlep line combines a turtle's sheltering shell with hooked crab pincers. Along Glasswater Coast, its expanding coral structures and layered metal-bearing plates form living barriers around tide pools, reef passages, and vulnerable companions.
Pelagivane
The Skimray line follows the gentle roads hidden inside Glasswater's currents. Its broad wings and trailing ribbon tail become familiar landmarks to lagoon keepers, who recognize individual travelers by their habitual turns around the reef.
Breakershark
A broad head and powerful tail identify this coastal shark line long before its body emerges from the surf. Bonkip's descendants work the rough channels where careless force can damage the very reef they defend.
Thalassire
The Curlip line lives upright among the swaying kelp, gripping stems with a curled tail. Its growing mane resembles the nursery it tends, making patient observation more reliable than a hurried search through the fronds.
Oraculopus
An expressive mantle and eight curling arms distinguish the Inkip line, whose coastal dens often contain carefully arranged finds. Its association with drowned archives has encouraged stories about wisdom, although its curiosity is far better documented.
Aurellume
The Jellip line drifts beneath a softly rounded bell, trailing ribbons through sheltered coastal water. Its luminous appearance becomes part of Glasswater's evening landscape, where boatkeepers distinguish a living procession from the fixed lights marking safe landings.
Borealhorn
The Tuskip line follows the cold northern coast of Hearthwild, carrying a spiraled tusk above its rounded face. Its seasonal passage connects isolated feeding waters, making a familiar visitor especially valuable to communities beneath the luminous ice.
Dreadlure
The Lurelip line inhabits dark coastal chasms, where an arched lure hangs above a remarkably expressive mouth. Its unsettling reputation comes partly from visitors who mistake a feeding light for a promise of help or safe harbor.
Chronaut
The Spirip line carries a chambered spiral shell above a tentacled face. Its association with ancient reef vaults has made it a symbol of continuity, though the creature measures its life through familiar refuges rather than human histories.
Citadelcarap
The Borrowbit line carries an oversized repaired shell above its busy walking legs. Its coastal reputation centers on making room: mature forms often choose shelters with unused cavities, allowing smaller neighbors to rest nearby without surrendering their own retreat.
Marshregent
Rosip gathers where the Glasswater Coast turns shallow and pink with evening light. Its long legs, curved neck, and patient feeding steps mature into the poised Marshregent, a Tide bird that treats healthy waterways as a shared inheritance.
CLIFFS & STORM RIDGES · 2 SPECIES
Stormspine
Thunder rolls along steep ridgelines, hanging valleys, and windswept nesting cliffs. Read the clouds before taking a trail: weather is part of every creature’s daily rhythm.
Tempestrix
Ziplet grows from a curious electric chick into a broad-winged sky hunter. Golden crown quills, indigo plumage, curved lightning feathers, and a widening storm mane make the line recognizable against Stormspine's charged cliffs.
Torquor
The Curlamb line occupies chalk ridges where grazing ground meets strong crosswinds. Paired stone spiral horns, a scalloped wool collar, and steady hooves distinguish these compact brawlers, whose mature silhouettes carry flowing hints of Gale.
QUARRIES & OLD RUINS · 5 SPECIES
Runescar
Stone terraces and half-buried courtyards hold the marks of earlier travelers. Life has returned between the stones, quietly turning abandoned works into new homes.
Monolithar
The Pebblit line resembles a squat stone gorilla shaped by quarry work and living geology. Huge knuckles, jade markings, layered plates, and an asymmetric monolith shoulder develop around a personable face and stubbornly patient habits.
Ferrankyl
The Platelit line is a low armored reptile whose layered back scutes and heavy tail club grow into a mobile ironstone bastion. Broad feet and outward-swept spikes support a patient guardian's deliberate use of space.
Terravow
Terrapeb grows into a broad land tortoise carrying a living bonsai canopy above its domed stone shell. Layered scutes, buttressed sides, sturdy feet, and a patient gaze define a guardian of old terraces and woodland crossings.
Scorpiarch
A low armored body, broad pincers, and a high curling tail define the Pinchip line. It inhabits Runescar's dry gullies, where vibrations passing through stone can reveal nearby movement before a traveler appears around a canyon bend.
Mournarch
Hushmask waits beneath Runescar's forgotten gates, an ivory face framed by a deep hood and fluted cloak. Its quiet spectral hands and trailing hems develop into Mournarch, an Epic guardian whose bond centers on care remembered and duties completed.
WETLANDS & NIGHT WOODS · 8 SPECIES
Duskfen
Reed beds, lantern pools, and night-blooming thickets weave a soft boundary between land and water. At twilight, the marsh reveals the busy world hidden through the day.
Mycrown
Myclet and its evolutions are stout walking fungi of Duskfen's damp forest floor. Sculpted caps, curved gills, luminous spots, and later side growth distinguish a quiet controller whose presence is tied to the slow work beneath fallen wood.
Onyxcoil
The Scalip line follows cool slate banks under the edge of Duskfen's nightwoods. Long snouts, overlapping heavy scales, and a tall curling armored tail give these guardians a compact defensive shape suited to narrow entrances and loose soil.
Bogbloom
The Dewbulb line inhabits shallow freshwater wetlands where a living bulb grows above a broad frog body. Strong folded legs, expressive eyes, and an unfolding lotus crown mark a support creature closely tied to the return of water.
Lunarchrys
The Dustip line appears among Duskfen's night flowers, its soft body framed by broad patterned wings. Its uncommon seasonal gatherings are carefully watched by growers whose most treasured trees open their blossoms only under particular local conditions.
Noctuary
The Duskpip line watches Duskfen from cedar branches worn smooth by generations of patient feet. Its cream face discs gather faint sounds, while a generous feather mantle makes even the oldest Noctuary look quietly approachable.
Vesperveil
Echimp is a floating bat spirit whose enormous ears give every small sound an audience. Across Duskfen's hollow roots and damp caves, its soft body and scalloped wings develop into the broad, attentive silhouette of Vesperveil.
Luminarch
Wickip is a small Spark spirit built around a luminous lantern, with bowed cage ribs, a looped handle, and floating boots. Common along cared-for Duskfen paths, it becomes Luminarch through patient familiarity with travelers and their safe return routes.
Willowispire
Droopbud walks Duskfen on spreading roots beneath a softly carved bark face. Its hanging canopy and patient branches mature into Willowispire, a Grove spirit whose story follows water, young trees, and the companionship of creatures content to wait nearby.
MINERAL CAVERNS · 5 SPECIES
Brassdeep
Underground streams trace glowing seams through echoing chambers. From shallow crystal nurseries to old forge halls, life depends on careful exchanges of water, warmth, and minerals.
Adamantillo
Ferritot develops into an ore-bearing armadillo with articulated shell bands, copper seams, and exposed gold crystals. These deliberate diggers inhabit Brassdeep's mineral galleries, reading the ground through their broad feet and carefully chosen resting places.
Siegepede
The Linkip line travels Brassdeep on many paired legs, its linked armor following the bends of old mineral workings. Tunnel households value its steady presence along routes where a continuous passage matters more than an impressive individual stride.
Brasswarden
Cogpup is a brass-colored hound whose articulated legs carry a thoroughly companionable curiosity. From abandoned foundries to mineral tunnels, its long muzzle, folded metal ears, and layered back plates mature into the dependable Forged guardian Brasswarden.
Magnetyr
Polip floats through Brassdeep with a horseshoe-shaped body and opposing colored poles. Its expressive bridge face, flexible arms, and hovering anchors develop into Magnetyr, a rare Iron construct closely associated with the mineral routes beneath a fallen observatory.
Crystallarch
Quartzlet stands on broad stone feet beneath a bright shard crown, with a geode chest and rounded fists. Its upright frame develops into Crystallarch, an Epic Stone golem whose patient movements are closely associated with Brassdeep's resonant crystal chambers.
CLOUD ISLANDS · 2 SPECIES
Skyveil
Mist gardens and high island meadows drift above the ordinary trails. Their fragile habitats reward patient visitors who listen to the wind and leave every crossing as they found it.
Nimboryn
Puffcoil drifts through Skyveil as a continuous ribbon of cloud-soft scales, with a broad muzzle and long whiskers. Its coiled body matures into Nimboryn, a rare Gale spirit that follows the archipelago's high, changing routes of moisture.
Cosmoryx
Stellip is a Legendary Spark spirit shaped like a soft living star, its expressive face framed by orbital lights. Across Skyveil's forgotten observatories, its developing halos and starlets become Cosmoryx, a companion associated with shared attention rather than foretold destiny.
