MORE THAN A NAME
The story of Dustip.
The Dustip line appears among Duskfen's night flowers, its soft body framed by broad patterned wings. Its uncommon seasonal gatherings are carefully watched by growers whose most treasured trees open their blossoms only under particular local conditions.
Nightglass Orchard prepared a public celebration for its oldest tree's expected flowering, but the buds remained closed when the lanterns were lit. Visitors departed disappointed, leaving one apprentice to tend the quiet orchard. A Veilmoth that had spent the evening beneath the canopy finally moved toward the tree after the wind eased. The apprentice extinguished the remaining decorative lamps and watched the first pale blossoms open beyond the light of the maintained footpath.
She recorded the weather and the creature's visits instead of waking the village for a hurried spectacle. Other growers arrived the following evening, keeping the orchard calm while the flowering continued. The Moonbrocade that later returned became part of the orchard's seasonal records, not the keeper of a secret calendar. Nightglass now celebrates after the fruit has set, honoring the work that followed the bloom as much as the brief beauty everyone hoped to witness.
Origins & background
Duskfen growers maintain separate lamps for safe walking routes and optional festival displays, dimming the latter around occupied flowering trees. Lunarchrys appears on orchard records beside notes about wind, rain, and the condition of the buds. Its visits are valuable observations, but neither a moth's arrival nor an old calendar alone determines when a rare tree will flower successfully in a particular season.
A PLACE TO BELONG
Life in Duskfen.
Moonflower groves.
Behavior
Dustip rests with its soft body sheltered beneath broad wings, becoming active around suitable evening flowers. Older forms revisit productive canopies and pause on dry branches between visits. They avoid crowded illuminated gatherings, preferring a quiet approach and enough open space to unfold their long trailing wing streamers safely.
Diet
It takes nectar and other soft floral food from suitable night blossoms. Keepers preserve diverse flowering patches rather than expecting one celebrated tree to sustain every visiting adult throughout the season.
Place in the ecosystem
Visits between compatible night flowers carry pollen through Duskfen's canopy, connecting scattered patches that bloom beyond daytime traffic. The line also draws growers' attention to the quieter habitat surrounding a treasured tree, where less celebrated blossoms support visitors between rare flowering events.
Neighbors & bonds
Moonbrocade often passes above the damp ground occupied by Gardenroll, linking canopy flowers with the garden below. Noctuary watches from neighboring branches. Orchard keepers leave different resting places for each rather than concentrating every night visitor beside the same treasured tree.
ONE BOND, FOUR CHAPTERS
The Dustip lineage.
Evolution combines experience with a meaningful milestone. A WildKin may keep its current form until its keeper is ready.
Dustip ↗
A soft cream thorax and small rounded face sit between broad purple upper wings and pale lower lobes. Simple gold eyespots decorate the curved surfaces. Dustip makes short evening visits to nearby flowers, returning to a dry branch before the canopy becomes crowded.
Veilmoth Current
The upper wings widen and their raised ribs become clearer, while longer combed antennae frame the head. Veilmoth moves confidently between neighboring flowering branches. It learns a quiet route through the orchard, avoiding decorative lights without abandoning the maintained path familiar to its companion.
Moonbrocade ↗
Richly patterned wings extend into the first long lower streamers, and fuller antennae emphasize the soft face. Shade joins Gale in the mature form. Moonbrocade returns to productive night canopies, resting between visits instead of circling a single blossom until it is exhausted.
Lunarchrys ↗
Great curved wings carry broad velvety eyespots above long trailing streamers. The body remains soft and compact beneath its elaborate antennae. Lunarchrys appears at established flowering routes across Duskfen, becoming familiar to patient orchard keepers without arriving on precisely the same evening each season.

FROM THE KEEPER’S NOTEBOOK
Meeting in the wild.
- 01
Search quiet flowering canopies after the decorative festival lamps have been dimmed.
- 02
Keep a maintained path light without flooding the whole orchard in brightness.
- 03
Observe the night-blooming tree's actual condition before beginning the pollination milestone.
“The festival may finish before the orchard begins its most important work. Leave a quiet bench, a clear path, and room for the wings to open tonight.”— Hearthwild field notes
